History of Life of Wellness
Many years ago, Life of Wellness was born and I didn’t even know… yet. I was living a life of stress and exhaustion, I was often frustrated and lost. As often happens, this turned to illness. In these moments my desire for something better for myself and my family was born. After years of healing and learning out of necessity I found a renewed passion that I had lost in my teens. To help others.
When I was young I always thought I would work in therapy, and then inevitably life happened. Each choice I had made had unintendedly pulled me from my original dreams. My wellness journey became an incredible opportunity to return to my path. Along the way I took a lot of workshops, went back to university and empowered myself to live my dream.
A bit about my own Life of Wellness Journey
This journey has led to the design of my Vision:
“Empowering you to embrace your life, health and wellness”
which guides us to
“Our mission is to help you REST and release stress, tension and pain. RESTORE balance to your mind, body and spirit. And encourage lifestyle changes that fuels your ability to THRIVE.”
It is my pleasure to provide you with a mix of wellness based services to support your journey. As a Life, Health and Wellness coach I help people find inner joy and peace so they can live the life they choose. I’ll help you take back the driver’s seat in your life. Together we will identify your fears and self-doubt. I will assist you to find clarity as we co-create strategies and plan for you to reach your goals and achieve your dreams.
I have chosen Yoga and Thai Yoga Therapy as they have been a very big part of my life for 17+ years. This is why I knew it was the right choice to become a teacher and provider. My training provided me with an awareness of the history and philosophy of yoga as well as adaptive and accessible knowledge of yoga and Thai massage. Through my training I draw on influences from Thai Yoga Massage, Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Myofascial, Marma, TCM, Ayurveda, Meditation and Mindfulness.
Personally, I am a grateful wife of my amazing and supportive husband of 20 years. In addition, I am the always proud mother of two adults who challenge the size of my heart daily. I am an avid lover of being in nature, camping, reading and yoga.
My core value is being in service to others. I bring this to life with three simple things; be honest, be generous and be kind. I believe in the power of balancing the mind, body and spirit to live an authentic life of wellness.
Melanie’s Professional Development
My professional background is in 25+ years of corporate leadership, non-profit and people development. Throughout my career I have been focused on training, development and executive coaching to a diverse demographic of individuals. I was able to support both the career development and personal growth of my peers and my team.
What I found more & more was that stress and wellness was holding people back from their potential. I then found personally that issues with stress caused similar issues with unhappiness and depression. This turned to physical illnesses and a long journey to recovery and health. The trend and my journey inspired me to make a change both for myself and ultimately to help others live the life they choose. This was the driving force in going back to school to add to my training as an executive coach, trainer and leader.
To support you in walking your journey to wellness and stress reduction I completed my certification in Integrated Health Coaching at Mount Royal University. In continued learning I attend training workshops for coaching and neuroscience. Topics such as brain science, cognitive psychology, emotional intelligence, building community impact, personal wellness and wellness in the workplace.
To support healing, stress reduction, physical movement and embodiment I have trained as a RYT500 Teacher of Yin, Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga with applications in Yoga Nidra, CranioSacral Therapy, Marma Therapy, Meditation, Ayurveda, Pranayama and Functional Anatomy.
